Daily papers can be ordered on the Internet from these trustable vendors

May 31st, 2009

It is a well-known fact that journals can be ordered via Internet. But not everybody knows that you can also get your daily paper via Internet. The following site reviews some important online shops offering German papers: Loehner Zeitung Abo. These online vendors offer several hundred daily and weekly gazettes. You can order them for a gratis trial period.

What are the advantages of subscribing to your favorite daily or weekly gazette instead of buying it each time it is published, and what are some special rules for buying gazette subscriptions on the German market?

Using the gratis trial period of about 2 weeks is the perfect solution for everybody who is not absolutely sure if they want subscribe to their favorite paper permanently. So they can test it extensively and take time to make the best decision. Many gazettes are also offered as premium subscriptions. This means one can obtain valuable benefits like money, gift vouchers or electronic devices when ordering a newspaper subscription on the Internet. These benefits are often worth several weeks or even months of the subscription rate. The gazettes can be ordered for a gratis trial period of about 2 weeks. Every potential customer can profit by this nice offer. During the cost-free trial period you can decide whether you want to continue getting the gazette, or if you want to stop it.

The companies providing papers have very easy to use online shops. You can search by title or even by zip code to find out which papers are available at your location. One should always verify if there is a premium subscription available. I would always go for that because of the valuable bonuses. But it is important to know that the gifts coming with a new subscription normally cannot be taken by the new customer themselves but by the person who recommended the new customer. So it is useful to order the gazette together with a friend or family member. One plays the role of the new reader and the other one gets the bonus. You can simply choose your favorite gazette - for example this one: Mittelschwaebische Nachrichten Abo - and use the gratis trial subscription. Subscribing to your paper on the Internet is fast and easy to do. Your daily newspaper will be delivered regularly in the morning. The best online suppliers offer several hundred different titles. So almost everyone should find their regional paper immediately.

Source Code Escrow - How to Protect Your Custom Software Assets

May 30th, 2009

Source code escrow offers a kind of guarantee to companies who purchase bespoke software solutions from software developers. The functioning of custom software is often mission critical to companies, and if the vendor were unable to continue supporting and maintaining the software, for instance due to bankruptcy, this could present a severe problem to the licensee.

One possible solution would be for the licensee to have access to the up-to-date source code. However most software development companies will not agree to this - the source code is their intellectual property and they will be extremely unwilling to release it to the licensee.

This is where source code escrow services comes in. It is an elegant solution to a fundamental conflict of interest: the source code is deposited with a third party escrow agent, and is released to the licensee only if the vendor is unable to continue to provide support and maintenance, under conditions defined in a contractual source code escrow agreement.

The software escrow agent is typically a company specialising in this service, and should be completely independent of both the licensor and licensee.

Typical provisions of a source code escrow agreement will include:

1) A definition of the scope and subject of the escrow (usually this will include the source code of a specific software solution, and anything that would be required to independently maintain the software, including documentation and software tools.)

2) The conditions that must be met for the source code escrow agent to release the source code to the licensee (ie bankruptcy of the software vendor or cancellation of the development project.)

3) Specifics of what rights the licensee has with regard to the source code after the software is released (ie the right to modify the code to fix bugs.)

4) A specification of services the escrow agent provides beyond simple custody of the software (the agent may, for instance, build the software and check that the binary matches the version supplied to the licensee.)

5) Any fees due to the agent for providing escrow services.

In the event of bankruptcy on the part of the software developer, the developer’s creditors may be legally entitled to seize all assets, including source code in escrow, and this could prevent (or delay) the release of the software to the licensee.

Industrial Fit Out Strategies of a Successful Company

May 30th, 2009

Introduction

A huge number of people work in offices of one kind or another. They may be offices in buildings purpose built or attached to a factory or in business premises. For many self employed business people the office is a room in their home converted for that purpose. Solicitors, doctors, estate agents and insurance agents, in fact any business that you can think of, works from some kind of office or another. You might even say 80% of the adult population work in an office. But I wonder how many of those people have any say in what kind of office they have and whether or not it suits their requirements. Mostly when someone new joins a company or firm, they are given a space for their office usually left by the previous incumbent. I suspect that if you asked occupants how they would like their office to be they would find it difficult to tell you.

When you think of the number of hours we spend in an office, at least eight hours per day and sometimes up to sixteen hours if it’s a busy period. Yes people are allowed out for breaks and rest times, but it is an awful lot of your life cooped up in small space. If at least a third of one’s working life is to be spent in an office, then it makes logical sense to ensure the environment is as comfortable, pleasant and as healthy as possible.

So how much thought goes into the planning of workspaces?

Where a building is purpose built such as an office, then the architects I am sure will have created good designs to suit the purpose. However, it has been known for new buildings to be problematic for the people working it them. For instance, synthetic materials used for carpeting can sometimes give off toxic fumes which cause allergies or illness of the staff. Air conditioning that relies on recycled air has the potential to carry bugs that can lay the whole office off at the same time. So there are many factors to consider in creating an office environment to ensure the staff are productive, creative, energised and remain healthy.

Old buildings, originally built for other uses, when converted to office space will have different issues to resolve. Often old buildings have very high ceilings where the heat rises up so that the inhabitants below are cold yet the heating bills are going through the roof, literally!! How to maximise the space available to provide a comfortable working environment will be a real challenge and this is where often the use of a mezzanine floor and suspended ceilings are valuable.

It is a well known fact for any business that happy workers give better performance and generate more revenue than unhappy workers. The workforce are more motivated, creative, helpful and have less time off work for illness if they are happy in their jobs. I am sure there are statistics available for these details, citing references to studies that have been performed, and they will all point to the fact that if the work environment is comfortable then your employees will be more productive. By hiring an interior fit out specialist you can invest in your company and protect its biggest asset: the men and women who make up the organisation.

Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the study of workplaces and the equipment used, to achieve the best design for comfort, safety, efficiency, and productivity. Research has been carried out over the last few years at Nottingham University on office space allocation challenges.

Workspace planning is fast becoming a specialist industry because of all of the current regulations and legislation. Formerly known, in the UK as the Factories Act and now known as the Health and Safety Executive regulations are in place to ensure that employees have sufficient working space in which to perform their work. This can be a potential minefield including such things as physical space, usable space, corridor spaces, and minimum light and ventilation regulations. If you are about to commence on an office refurbishment project ensure that your interior fit out specialists of conversant with all of these regulations before you engage them to perform your work.

What are the Criteria for a good office environment? We are sentient beings, which mean we respond with feeling and perception as well as intellectually to our surrounding.

Seeing

The first thing to consider when commencing an office refurbishment project is how does it look? The initial impact on us comes from what we see. The decor and arrangement of furniture, the window aspect and lighting are important in our perception of whether or not it is pleasing to the eye. Does the office have all the necessary equipment, computer, phone and sufficient storage for files and books etc? Plants provide a sense of balance in the space as long as they are discreetly positioned and don’t make it look cluttered. Plants are oxygen generators and help to refresh the air.

Smell

On entering a new place the first thing we take in is the scent whether we pay attention to it or not. We notice immediately if the air is stuffy or if there is an unpleasant smell such as sweaty bodies. However a pleasant fragrance or no smell at all will be inviting. Baker shops nearly always pump out the fresh smell of baked bread into the street to entice people in to buy the goods. So although we may not be aware that smell plays an important part in our responses, we are still animals and we do use our olfactory senses a great deal more that we realise.

Feel touch

How does the furniture feel? Plastic seats can be very uncomfortable to sit on for a long time. Plastic does not breathe, it draws moisture from the skin so that when you stand up your posterior will be damp and uncomfortable. Padded fabric is warmer than leather for comfort and not as expensive. The desk chair needs to be the correct height for desk and give suitable support, a computer needs to be set correctly to avoid neck and wrist strain of the operator.

The temperature in the environment is best if it’s not too warm and not too cold. Office refurbishment work will also include plans for temperature control to keep the temperature at 21 degrees C as this is the best working temperature.

Too warm and we become sluggish and sleepy, too cold and we become distracted and use up valuable energy keeping warm. Fresh air is also beneficial to stimulate the brain cells.

Sound Hear

What can we hear? Is it noisy or quiet? When I was first starting out in business, I went to visit a local manufacturing company to learn about the way they managed their business. At lunch time I was taken into the executive dining area where there was a waitress service and we had a very civilised lunch. Later I was taken to the works canteen. When we walked in I was hit with a blast of noise such as I had never experienced before. The hall was large with a very high ceiling and nothing to damp down the echo. The result was that everyone ended up shouting to be heard and there was loud music playing as well. I was shocked, not just at the noise level but by the contrast between the executive dining room and the workers canteen. I had come from an company which treated all members of the company the same so there were no executive areas and everyone, high and low mingled together for meals and break times. Guess which company had the better worker relationships and higher output?

Where a company utilises an open plan office then noise levels can be very distracting and one solution is to incorporate ‘White Noise’ which is a low level background noise to interfere with the general office talk going on over the phone or mini meetings. Sometimes quiet relaxing music is introduced as background noise but this is not normal in a business place.

Taste

Well we are not going to go around licking the furniture, but another important consideration is to ensure that a there is an area to enjoy a nice coffee or tea away from the desk throughout the day. So is there a pleasant area for making drinks and preparing snacks, or even lunch facilities alongside the office. I once worked in an office where they had a small kitchen area off the main office for making drinks and snacks and there was always a bowl of fresh fruit for workforce, as the company recognising the refreshing effects of fresh fruit.

Workspace planning

So as you can see there are many things that can make the work environment a nice place to be. However getting the original layout and size of spaces for the employees is a complex process.

How much space does each individual need to work in? According to the Officewise publication from the Health and Safety Executive in the UK employers must provide a minimum of 11 cubic metres for each person permanently occupying a workplace. However there are all sorts of exceptions and caveats to this rule, such as making sure the space is usable space, and clearly if that space were under the stairs with no windows, or ventilation then it would not be suitable. So it is very important to ensure that your new office fit out adheres to all of the current legislation with regards to workspace laws.

Suspended ceilings can be used by the industrial fit out specialists to make good use of otherwise unusable space which makes the installation of services easier and more cheaper. Electrical supply, air conditioning units, water pipes and telephone cables can all run behind the suspended ceiling making access easy if anything goes wrong and repairs need to be implemented.

Positioning of the electrical and telephone outlet is also critical. The computers used in offices today all require their own electrical supply even if they are networked with the system.

Outside light from windows is a requirement for offices. The days of the cupboard office cubbyhole are gone. Light airy spaces make people feel good and doses of sunshine each day lift our spirits. However too much sunshine will overheat an office so the use of vertical blinds is recommended to deflect the rays of the sun without reducing too much the level of illumination.

Costs

To preserve office space costs some industrial fit our specialists have come up with the idea that instead of having a board rooms for meetings they have their meeting standing up around a special tall coffee table. This reduces the amount of time spent in meetings and the space is reusable for the lunches. Other schemes encourage employees to work from home for part of a week and utilise a system of desk sharing or moveable desks.

Reconfigurable spaces

Another way of economising on the cost of office space is by careful rearrangement of the existing floor area. There may be dead areas which could be released and turned into useable space. The installation of new interior partition walls can rearrange the existing space to create a friendlier working environment. Sometimes working in an open plan office is beneficial for communication between staff, other times it is a distraction and prevents efficiency. So having the option of both open space and separate offices provides the full range of options which can be easily introduced with new partition walls.

For example one of my clients, took over a set of offices and had various walls moved, so instead of it having two small offices, one without a window, they created one large office for the MD and a really good sized store room which they needed for long term storage of customer files. They then took out another divider and made a good size open plan office space and rearranged another wall to create a board come conference room. Also access to the little kitchen was changed to be more convenient. The choice of subtle colours on the walls and new vertical blinds caused the whole suite of rooms to be transformed into a pleasant and airy working area. Where there is plenty of ceiling height the introduction of a Mezzanine floor generates valuable areas perhaps for storage, private meeting rooms or extra offices.

Other concerns in workspace planning, is the situation of facilities such as kitchen, toilets, relaxation areas and outside space if available. Sometimes the introduction of a simple partition can create a relaxation/dining area without losing too much of the work area.

All Health and Safety regulations are paramount they have to be adhered to in the workplace and must be incorporated into any plan along with full fire regulations.

Conclusion

Many organisations may feel that upgrading the facilities is a ‘nice to have’ idea and the reality is that it usually comes at the bottom of the list on money allocation. However this is erroneous thinking; office refurbishment is never a waste of time or money. Creating a pleasant office environment by upgrading worn out or old fashioned surroundings and furnishings will make a big difference to the working life of the employees. Improved working conditions may be only part of the picture in achieving real job satisfaction, but it is a good start in the right direction. It also says a lot about what the senior people in the organisation think about their employees. If they ensure that their staff are given the necessary equipment and facilities to do their job effectively then the employees will give better service and can be more efficient and there will be a better working environment all around.

Printing Laser Labels

May 30th, 2009

Printing quality self-adhesive labels on a laser printer is simple. All you need to do is to place them in the paper tray so they will print portrait, set your printer software on the “labels” setting and then print as usual. For better positioning of the print you can use the media bypass slot usually located above the paper tray, this reduces the number of rollers the label sheet passes through and helps to prevent the print from slewing left at the top and right at the bottom of the A4 sheet.

The labels setting on your printer driver software is usually in the “settings” or “properties” section, and these options are on that rather annoying page that pops up every time you print something. Some of the more expensive or modern laser printers have auto sensing, which means they automatically sense the thickness of the media they are loaded with.

You do have to print A4 labels in a portrait direction; this is because, like wood, paper has a grain direction. The grain direction is from the top to the bottom of the sheet rather than side to side. The effect of this is that the paper is more rigid along its length; this means that the labels are better supported on the backing paper and less likely to peel off the backing paper while printing.

Laser printers are not designed to print labels, they are designed to print thinner A4 sheets, so it is always a wise idea to look in the printer manufacturer’s manual to see what they advise for label printing. To enable the printers to print labels well you need to use laser labels made from laser grade paper and cut in a layout that also reduces the chances of separation from the backing during printing. Laser grade paper has a specified smoothness so that the laser toner can attain the resolution you need.

Laser labels also have a particular water content this is essential and helps the toner to key into the paper when it goes through the fuser in your printer. (The fuser is like a heated mangle with the paper passing between two rollers one of which is heated.) If the labels dry out then the laser print will smudge so always keep unused labels in their packaging. Laser labels also have a [particular|certain} type of backing paper which provides enough friction so that the rollers in the printer can move it accurately.

A Complete Guide To Bathroom Mirrors

May 28th, 2009

Introduction

Central to the mythology of mirrors is Narcissus a Boeotian hero, who disliked those who loved him for his own natural beauty. He famously gazed into a pool of water and was so fascinated with the reflection, that he was unable to bring himself to leave the image. Not realising that the image he could see was of his own natural beauty, he couldn’t bring himself to leave the image, and he perished.

The concept of how the mirror works is quite simple. It stems simply from the reflective surface of still water and therefore nature plays its part. When you look down into a puddle or a dark pool of water, the smooth water reflects the light straight back into your eyes.

Mirrors work in exactly the same way, in that a mirror is made up of a coated glass surface which when a polished metal surface or metal film is applied behind the glass, light cannot shine through and so reflects the image back. Young children particularly, are always fascinated when they look into a mirror for the first time and see their own reflection staring back at them. Anyone who has young children will remember the vision of their young daughter kissing their image on a mirror. My eight year old daughter loves sitting in front of her mirror applying her make up nearly as much as my fifteen year old daughter!

Where would we be today without mirrors? Mirrors are generally used for personal grooming or interior decoration and have evolved from a luxury item into a necessity. There is an enormous variety of mirror shapes and sizes and over the years, mirrors have gradually developed to meet many different requirements. Today there is a large selection of mirrors to suit every requirement, ranging from small mirrors to large mirrors, framed, unframed and includes bathroom mirrors, decorative mirrors, illuminated mirrors, LED mirrors, shaving mirrors, make up mirrors and demister mirrors.

Away from personal use, mirrors are also used as part of scientific apparatus such as cameras, lasers, telescopes and periscopes, to reflect light and used as tools in dentistry and medical care. Not to mention the beauty and hair salon industries.

History of Mirrors

The history of mirrors as far as we can see dates back over 8,000 years. The earliest known mirrors were made from pieces of polished stone such as obsidian, a naturally occurring glass from cooled volcanic lava flows. In Anatolia in Turkey, examples of obsidian mirrors dated at around 6000 BC have been found. In south and central America, polished stone mirrors from around 2000 BC on wards have also been found. From around 3000 BC mirrors of polished copper are known to have been crafted in ancient Egypt.

The first metal coated glass mirrors are thought to have been made in the first century AD, in Sidon, known today as Lebanon. The Roman author Pliny makes reference to glass mirrors backed with gold leaf in his Naturalis Historia, one of the largest reference books to have survived from the Roman Empire, which focused on natural and man-made objects and was written in around 77 AD. The Romans also created a technique for making crude mirrors by using molten lead to coat blown glass.

In the 10th Century Arabian Physicists, considered different types of mirrors, reflecting mirrors and parabolic mirrors and another discussed concave and convex mirrors in both cylindrical and spherical geometries. In undertaking various experiments with mirrors, finding the point on a convex mirror at which a ray of light coming from one point is reflected to another point was solved.

During the period of the 14th to 17th Centuries, across Europe a method of coating glass with a tin-mercury amalgam was perfected by manufacturers. Venice was recognised for its glass making expertise and soon became a centre of mirror production using this new technique. Glass mirrors from this period were extremely expensive luxuries. Manufacturers also evolved in London, France and Germany.

The particular process of silvering to produce the first silvered-glass mirror is credited to German chemist Justus von Liebig in 1835. He developed a process to apply a thin layer of metallic silver onto glass through the chemical reduction of silver nitrate. The process was adapted for mass production and led to the greater availability of affordable mirrors.

The evolution of the mirror over the years is quite interesting, if like me you love mirrors! It has evolved from a luxury item to an item which is now taken for granted in daily use. Today, walk into any DIY store to look at mirrors and the selection is vast, with many technology features now finding there way into mirrors, to give added simplicity, luxury and decoration.

Back lit mirrors, LED lights and demister pads are fast becoming affordable items, you can also make your bathroom unique and give it that extra special luxury feel with new ranges of bathroom lighting.

How are Mirrors Made?

The manufacture of mirrors includes the application to a suitable material of a reflective coating. Glass is the most common material, due to its ability to take a smooth finish and its rigidity. Glass is also more scratch resistant than many other materials.

Early mirrors were made of solid metal, bronze or silver and they were far too expensive for many. Metal is also prone to corrosion and because of polished metal’s low emissivity, antique mirrors were less suitable for indoor use. With indoor lighting at the time supplied by candles or lanterns, the metal mirrors reflected a much darker picturecompared to modern glass mirrors.

In modern times ‘float glass’ is used in the manufacture of mirrors, which is a flat ribbon of glass which is run out of a furnace and along the surface of a bath of molten tin. The temperature of both the glass and molten tin is controlled to enable both surfaces to be made perfectly flat. There are now three common types of mirrors: plain - which has a flat surface, and the two spherical types of mirrors: the convex and the concave. The concave and convex mirrors can be used in an entertaining way, when used at fairgrounds or amusement parks to distort peoples figures reflected in them through bloating, stretching and shrinking, the person or object in front of them.

In some applications, a mirror isn’t a mirror at all. For example, when used in public conveniences, particularly in public or factory toilets, where for reasons of cost and the need for greater durability, a single polished metal sheet is often installed as a form of mirror.

Different Types of Mirror

Throughout the ages, mirrors have been employed as symbols of truth, deception and vanity. Mention a mirror and you instantly know that if you look into one, you will see your own reflection staring back at you. The image you see will resemble your own appearance. In optical principles, the reflections in mirrors do not totally match the objects in front of them. When looking into the mirror, trace the contour of the reflection of your head in a mirror. The reflection may correspond in proportion, but will generally be half in actual size.
With such a variety and huge range of mirrors now available, much has been made of the amount of money spent in purchasing mirrors especially by women, although in this day and age with an increase in men purchasing cosmetics, some men will also be vain enough to carry a mirror.

The vain Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs famously asked her special mirror, “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” Mirrors are synonymous with truth.
Mirrors are frequently used in interior decoration to create an illusion of space, and to decorate and amplify the apparent size of a room. They will be used around the home, the office, a pub, club or restaurant to good effect. They work particularly well in night clubs, reflecting the many images of light in the club or room to create a feeling of a much bigger space.

Infinity Mirrors provide an effect of never reaching an end, known as ‘infinity breaking’ and are particularly effective when used in a dark environment. I remember experiencing this phenomenon for the first time as a child in a large department store lift, where mirrors where on all sides of the elevator car. For those who are not good in lifts I should think this effect probably does nothing to calm them, perhaps that’s why you don’t see lifts like this anymore Or is it just because I’m getting old and that was a particular style popular in the 70’s!

My next favourite kind of mirror after the infinity mirror is the heated mirror, these mirrors have a heating element or what is called a demister pad mounted on the back. The reason a mirror steams up when you have a shower is because the surface temperature of the mirror is colder than the air temperature and causes the water vapour in the air to condense on the mirror. Some bright spark realised long ago that it if you heated the mirror this would avoid it steaming up, brilliant!

For many years heated mirrors have only featured in very expensive bathrooms usually costing thousands, and quality hotels have used heated mirrors as a neat differentiator from the increasingly popular budget hotels and motels. Of course it is not until you step out of the hotel shower and see yourself in the mirror that you realise it is there! Whilst at the back of your mind you realise this is one of the reasons why this room is more expensive than the other hotel across the street.

Last week I heard the BBC Radio 2 DJ Ken Bruce state that the best shave you ever had will have been in a hotel, to which he attributed the benefit of the heated bathroom mirror as the main reason. I have to agree, and every time I stay in (nice) hotel I always have a really good look at the bathroom with a view to reproducing the best of its features in my own home.

A demister mirror may be seen as a luxury item, but will add great effect to your bathroom, especially if you like showers for two!

In 1980, ska group The Beat had a UK top ten hit with ‘Mirror in the Bathroom’ and the bathroom is probably the location where we tend to study ourselves the most in mirrors. Many will say that it is not wise to look at yourself in the mirror first thing in the morning, but the bathroom is often the first port of call in the morning. Many bathrooms feature a main bathroom mirror positioned on a wall and a bathroom cabinet with mirror doors. Other than the “oh my god” do I really look like that expression, the uses of a mirror or mirrors in a bathroom will generally be to aid the application of make up, hair styling or shaving.

One of the major problems with bathroom mirrors is that after showering or bathing, the mirror is steamed up. A recent addition in the manufacture of heated mirrors is the inclusion of a demister pad which clears the mirror for use in mere seconds. Just think never having to again wait for the steam of the bathroom to disappear from the mirror, or having to open the window, before using the mirror to shave or apply make up. The bathroom mirror demister or steam free bathroom mirror is a great invention. Some manufacturers refer to these products as fog free bathroom mirrors and there is now a huge range available, again some with back lights, LED lighting and built in shaver sockets.

Demister mirrors and steam free bathroom mirrors are not the only recent developments on mirrors. As suggested above another reasonably new product is the back lit bathroom mirror. Illuminated mirrors maintain the features of a simple mirror, but will enhance any environment in which they are used with the addition of lighting. As with all mirrors, the range of illuminated mirrors is extensive, with a variety of sizes and shapes available. An Illuminated mirror with shaver socket can also be purchased. Illuminated bathroom cabinets with or without shaver sockets are also available.

Mirrors with illuminated LED lights will enhance any bathroom or environment in which they are installed. Being of low energy consumption LED, or light emitting diode, are more environmentally friendly than traditional bulbs. They are designed to withstand the moisture of the bathroom environment. So steam mist will not cause a problem. As a real luxury mirror, illuminated bathroom mirrors and bathroom mirrors with LED lighting can also include a demister, to demist the mirror in just a few seconds and an on/off sensor to activate the lights as soon as motion is detected in front of the mirror. Now bathroom cabinets are also available with inbuilt back lights, and LED lighting for that special something different in your bathroom.

As a bathroom accessory the mirror should come high on the list, in fact can you really have a finished bathroom without a mirror? The enormous selection of styles, types, shapes and sizes means that there must be a mirror to match anyone’s budget. Although some of the latest technological versions such as illuminated, back lit and LED mirrors could be considered to be luxury items, some are not as expensive as you may have thought.

We have two bathrooms, both with LED mirrors and since we bought them I manage a much better shave because I can see what I’m doing more easily, especially first thing in the morning!

Mirrors, Superstition and Auspicious Energy Flow

I have always loved mirrors, probably why I have ended up in the mirrors business! When I was at school I did a project on them, this was before the internet was invented mind so I trawled through piles and piles of reference books in both the school and local library for months. These days of course it would only take an hour on Google, kids these days don’t know how easy they’ve got it!

Once you get immersed in mirrors as I did all those years ago, or ‘mirros’ as I frequently misspelled it, and start researching them, you find that they play a major part in all aspects of life. Mirrors also feature in superstitions. One of the most commonly known superstitions is that someone who breaks a mirror will receive seven years bad luck. A popular belief for this superstition is that mirrors are a reflection of the soul and if a mirror is broken, then part of the soul is broken. Added to this, some believe that the soul regenerates every seven years in an unbroken condition, hence the seven years of bad luck. I bet you’ve always wondered why that was so I’m glad to share that with you! Mirrors were often used in traditional witchcraft too as tools for performing spells from the belief that mirrors are said to be a reflection of the soul.

It is also said that the mirror does not lie. A mirror can show only the truth. It is a very bad omen indeed to see something in a mirror which should not be there! Some cultures also have a custom that a newborn child should not look into a mirror until its first birthday because its soul is still developing.

In the southern United States, it used to be customary to cover the mirrors in a house where the wake of a deceased person was being held. If a mirror was left uncovered or exposed, people believed that the deceased person’s soul would become trapped in any uncovered mirror.

In the ancient art of Feng Shui mirror placement is considered very important. There is a lot of information available about this, and it is a subject that can’t be covered in a mere paragraph or two here. But Chi energy flow can be influenced by mirrors so where the energy needs to be reflected, mirrors can be used for this to great effect. Personally I don’t really follow these rules, although my mum has mirrors strategically placed all over her house to redirect negative energy! One of the principles I do follow though is to make sure I don’t have any mirrors pointing at my bed, or the kids beds, as this is said to reflect your dreams back onto you whilst you are sleeping, which is not a good thing if it’s a nightmare!

Conclusion

A mirror is defined as a coated glass surface for reflecting images. There is a huge range of mirrors for commercial use, and available in many shapes and sizes. The most commonly seen uses of mirrors are for personal grooming and interior decoration. As a race we are thoroughly addicted to mirrors. Who can honestly say that they can walk past a mirror without taking a look at themselves?

Over time, mirrors have evolved from a luxury item to an item of necessity and many particularly women will always carry a mirror in their hand bags. However, today with technological advancements, some mirrors will be seen as a luxury, particularly those which include illumination, LED or demisting devices. As individuals we spend many hours of our life in a bathroom, so why not treat yourself to one of life’s little luxuries and indulge in a stylish bathroom mirror? After all, let’s be honest, who can really live without mirrors?

A Comprehensive Education in Balloons

May 28th, 2009

Introduction

When you think of the word ‘Balloons’ what images appear in your mind? Is it simple balloons you blow up for children’s parties, or balloons that fly off on their own, or the special balloons for key events like the ones produced for the wedding of Charles and Diana? There are now so many different types of balloons on the market that you can get almost anything for everything any event you like.

So what exactly is a balloon? One definition defines a balloon as a flexible bag which you fill with air or some other type of gas, such as helium or hydrogen. The early balloons would have been made with non flexible material but modern balloons are made with latex so they have great elasticity and can be pumped up to much larger sizes.

History of Balloons

The first known balloons were made in Central and Southern America by the Aztec Indians. They were made out of the bowels of cats which were carefully cleaned then turned inside out. They were sewn with special vegetable thread that had the property of sticking to itself when dried in the sun and creating an almost airtight seal. The balloons were then made into air filled model animals and burned at the top of the Aztec pyramid as an offering to the sun god. (The first example of balloon modelling). A Portuguese priest, Bartolomeu de Gusmao, held the first public exhibition of a balloon in the Portuguese Court in Lisbon in 1709 which was probably made from an animal bladder that stretched when filled with air. The rubber balloon was invented in 1824 by a Michael Faraday and was filled with hydrogen to be used in his experiments with hydrogen. But the familiar latex balloon did not appear until 1847.

The early rubber balloons were sold in America in Parks and Circuses for a penny each. Although the latex balloon was manufactured in London in the mid 1800’s the mass production of them did not occur until much later in 1931.

As technology has become more advanced so has the world of balloons. Now balloons can be made from rubber, latex, polychloroprene or nylon. They can be filled with air, helium, hydrogen or water. Filling the balloon with air can be done with the mouth, a manual pump(such as a hand pump), or electric inflator or with compressed gas. The balloons are used for many differing purposes, and decorated in numerous ways to suit the event.

Some balloons are purely for decoration, others are ideal for individual functions because of their low density and relatively low cost. The balloon’s properties have led to them being used in a wide range of other applications in the areas of meteorology, military defense, medical treatment, and transportation.

Types of Balloons

Party Balloons

The most common and familiar types of balloons are the party balloons. These are usually bought in small packets and blown up with a pump to create a festive scene for children’s parties and other kinds of celebratory events where advertising balloons can make all the difference.

These days I often see a cluster of balloons at the entrance to a house or hall to indicate where the party is being held. The balloons come in many different sizes and colours and can have printing on the face which expands as the balloon is inflated. Party Balloons are mostly made of natural latex tapped from rubber trees. The rubber’s elasticity makes the size variable. Balloons filled with air usually hold their size and shape much longer.

Helium Balloons

Balloons which float upwards are filled with the gas helium which is lighter than air. So for an event where balloons are let off into the atmosphere, they will need to be helium balloons. Helium filled rubber balloons usually only retain their buoyancy for a few days. The enclosed helium atoms are smaller than the pores in the latex through which they escape. To increase the float time of a helium balloon for a week or more, the inside of the balloons can be coated with a special polymer solution to reduce the leakage of the helium.

Water Balloons

The water balloons are often smaller than regular balloons and made from thin rubber so that they can be easily broken. They are filled with water and are intended for children to throw at each other as a game or practical joke with the aim of getting each other soaked. They may also be used in competitions or games.

Foil Balloons

In the late 1970s along came the foil balloon. These are made of thin non-stretch metalized plastic film or mylar. They are much more expensive and made an appearance at the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana causing quite a stir. These balloons have attractive shiny reflective surfaces and can be printed with color pictures, logos and patterns to customize them. The most important attribute of metalized nylon for balloons is its ability to keep the helium gas from escaping for several weeks because it is less permeable. Foil balloons then have the advantage of being light weight, longer-lasting, with increased buoyancy. They are perfect for parties, in-store decorations, special celebrations and for gifts.

Animal-Shaped Balloons

Metalized nylon balloons can be cut into the three dimensional shapes of animals and then printed to represent the chosen animal. Once inflated the balloons make very bright, decorative items for gifts or may be used as a theme for a special event. Screen printing is used to create the designs for these spectacular pieces.

Balloon Modelling and Balloons in Art

Balloon modelling is a popular entertainment for children and adults alike. A Balloon artist twists and ties inflated tubular balloons into shapes resembling animals or even people. Sometimes they are called balloon sculptures, not to be confused with those cited below. When I have watched these artists at work I have often wondered why the balloons don’t burst when they are working.

This is because the Latex balloons used are made of extra flexible rubber so they’re twistable and can be tied without popping when being used for balloon sculptures. These sculpting balloons are very difficult to inflate to begin with so quite often the sculptor uses a pump.

Balloon Sculptures

Professional party decorators may use hundreds of helium balloons to create balloon sculptures. These sculptures are often limited because of the round shape of the balloons to simple arches or walls but on occasion more ambitious “sculptures” have been attempted. Sometimes balloons are used as table decorations for special events which will have 3 or 5 balloons to each bouquet. The decoration will usually include curled ribbon with an added weight to stop the balloons from floating away.

Professional balloon party decorators use electronic equipment to enable the exact amount of helium to fill the balloon. For non-floating balloons air inflators are used. Professional quality balloons differ from most retail packet balloons as they are bigger in size and made from 100% biodegradable latex.

Balloon Drops

I am sure you will have been to a party or dance where at the end of the evening hundreds of balloons fall from the ceiling to mingle amongst the participants. This is known as a balloon drop and is often performed at New Year’s Eve celebrations or at political rallies and conventions. It is a relatively low cost way of creating a festive atmosphere at the party climax, so everyone goes away feeling they have had a really good time.

If you want to create a balloon drop for your own event you will need to set up a large plastic bag or net overhead, which is suspended at a certain height. This is then filled with air-inflated balloons so that they will fall onto the target area below when the balloons are released. You will also need to develop a mechanism for releasing the balloons. Balloon drops may also be performed at many celebrations, including graduations and weddings.

Balloon Rockets

As a child I am sure you played the game of blowing up a balloon then letting it go while watching it speed around the room making a rude noise with everyone falling about laughing. These are called balloon rockets and I remember being fascinated and wondering how they worked. When the mouth of the balloon is released, the greater pressure of air inside forces its way out and the elasticity of the balloon contracts causing the balloon to be propelled forward. This is fundamentally how a rocket works. The balloon can also be filled with gases other than air, with similar results. Besides being simple toys, balloon rockets are a widely used teaching device to demonstrate physical principles and the functioning of a rocket. The balloon rocket is often used to demonstrate Newton’s third law in physics.

Balloon Publicity

Specialists supplying large quantities of balloons such as a UK balloon delivery company can provide all your requirements for publicity at major events such as balloons races or releases.

Balloon Releases

In Australia they had a fund raising event on 18th April for Make-A-Wish Day. The 5,000 released balloons make a stunning sight as they rise across the bay marking the number of wishes granted since 1985.

If you are planning a balloon release or race of more than 5,000 balloons, it is a requirement that you apply in writing for permission to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) at least 28 days in advance. The CAA also like to be informed of balloon releases up to 5,000. A form can be obtained by calling either the NABAS office on 01989 762 204 or the Airspace Utilisation Section of the CAA on 020 7453 6599

Because of concerns about the impact on the environment of large numbers of balloons being released, the NABAS - The Balloon Association have produced a code of conduct which can be found on their website at www.nabas.co.uk

Safety and Environmental Concerns

Balloons are made of natural rubber latex (NRL) which is a natural product coming from rubber trees that are grown in certain areas of the tropics. These are not trees that are cut down to produce the NRL. The NRL is obtained by tapping from mature trees and is a sustainable crop providing employment for many agricultural workers in some of the poorest areas of the world.

As a consequence of NRL cultivation and the consumption of latex products, the planting and maintenance of rubber tree plantations helps towards the prevention of tropical rainforest deforestation. This contributes significantly to the removal of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, produced by industrialised nations and a major source of global warming.

Research shows that latex balloons which are completely natural coming from the Hevea tree degrade faster than oak leaves. Oxidation occurs first in the breakdown of latex and it begins within 60 minutes of a balloon being inflated. As the decaying process is by natural exposure nutrients are released into the soil. Most balloons used in releases today are made of bio-degradable latex.

An estimated 90/95% of balloons released rise to an altitude of 5 miles, at which height the cold will cause the balloon to become brittle and shatter into miniscule pieces. The small fragments then floating back to earth to degrade in the ground. Balloon fragments are unlikely to cause harm if accidentally ingested. This is because latex and the dyes used in latex colouring are non-toxic.

Printed latex balloons are a fantastic, low-cost and environmentally friendly way of advertising at promotions and events. All latex balloons supplied by B-Loony, the UK’s largest printed balloon manufacturer, are completely biodegradable. The code of conduct produced by NABAS for balloon releases gives advice to ensure the protection of our environment.

Manufacture of Balloons

Balloons are manufactured by their millions every day in many countries. The rubber is collected as liquid from a rubber tree and then sent to the factories where the liquid goes through a series of treatment processes. These processes include shaping and colouring operations and testing for quality. The results are thousands balloons which provide a splash of colour and party atmosphere at celebrations and conferences or any event where a large number of people gather.

Conclusion

Toy balloons have been a source of pleasure and excitement throughout the world for many years. They have provided hours of entertainment and interest for children as well as being an educational resource. Non toy Balloons are being used for science, medicine and travel and are invaluable in helping us to learn about our world. Balloons I am sure will remain very alive and active on the world’s scene for many years to come.

Mortgage Protection Insurance: The Best Decision You’ve Ever Made!

May 28th, 2009

Everybody knows that purchasing a house is likely going to be the biggest investment of their lifetime. The saying is “You Buy A House, You Make It A Home.” You should feel safer in your homed than you do anywhere else in the world. There’s nothing quite so comforting as know that you have an adequate amount of mortgage protection insurance in the event of your untimely death.

When you buy a house it means that you’ve decided to make a long-term financial commitment. Unfortunately, you never know what the future holds. One thing’s for sure though. If you’ll go one step further and purchase mortgage insurance this will help alleviate the stress often caused by a weak financial plan. To say it plainly, if you don’t have some type of mortgage life insurance and you die unexpectedly there’s a good chance that your spouse and children will be forced to sell the house and move into an apartment.

Believe me, I know it’s tempting to skip the insurance in an attempt to save money. However, perhaps it’s time to do a bit of research. With the economy in the shape it’s in nowadays there’s a very good chance that you can get a better deal on mortgage life insurance that you might have imagined.

Think about it. You’re committed to taking care of your family while you’re alive, but what happens if something happens to you? Wouldn’t you feel more at ease with a mortgage protection insurance policy as part of your overall financial portfolio?

Honestly, finding the right mortgage life insurance policy is not difficult. If you do your research on the internet it’s really not even all that time-consuming. Trust me, the peace of mind you’ll get from it simply cannot be measured in dollars and cents. Actually, it will probably turn out to be the best decision you’ve ever made in your life.

View Movies Online

May 27th, 2009

Companies like Netflix, iTunes and Amazon.com are now leading the way in providing movies online. These services charge a fee for individuals to download either a movie, music or a TV episode. A portion of that money goes to the company that owns the film or show. But a portion of the money goes to the distributing company.

These services have been a glorious achievement for those people who want to see a movie the day it comes out for rental or for retail sale, but don’t want to go to the local Walmart to buy the DVD. They have made it simple to just buy the movie online, save it on your local computer and watch it whenever you desire. This makes it easy to watch the movie online on a computer, on a ipod or import it to a device like a xbox 360 and watch it on a TV.

But let’s say that you don’t want to buy the movie. Say you want to keep things legal and clean but you just want to watch it once, you want to watch free films online. Well it isn’t quite free, but it is remarkably inexpensive.

I like to watch tv online but I also enjoy renting and watching movies online.

Perhaps you think the movie in question is not worthy of a full purchase price. Well, Netflix, iTunes and Amazon still have you covered. You can rent the movie and then you will have a month to watch the movie once within a 24 hour period once you start watching the movie. This is more than enough time to watch the movie a number of times.

Or you can subscribe for very small monthly fee and watch all the movies your heart desires.

With the way technology is going these days it is just easier than ever to watch movies online without all the hassle.

The Designer Clothing And Accessory Revolution Is On!

May 26th, 2009

I love clothes. Quality material, detailed construction and good design can make me quiver. There are large plastic bins stored here full of cocktail dresses, gowns, lingerie, dresses, blouses, coats, etc., - some designer, some just superbly made, very stylish clothing. Vintage silk hand rolled scarves with discreet designer names in the corners, vintage purses from chainmail to wood and plastic to petit point needlework, and vintage hats from the truly absurb little caps with 12″ or more bobbing things to the wide brim with hat band accented by a small gemmed pin. Clothes and accessories enough to carry you thru any occasion, taken from the decades between 1910 and 1970.

My clothes and shoes show that I care about my appearance. Don’t spend a fortune on designer shoes, only to have ugly feet! Shop for pedicure products online and have pretty feet to go with those killer shoes.

Here are my best bets for fashionistas: Grace & Kelli. The boutique ambiance hints at the sticker shock here: Handbags from Ferragamo, Prada, Chanel, and Gucci can run more than $1,000, suits from Akris, Burgamo, and Diane von Furstenburg $100 to $300. But the 30- to 40-percent discount on the latest fashions lure many- and prices drop 25 percent after two months.

Don’t skimp on your handbag. There is nothing wrong with a designer handbag. There are a lot of advantages that you can get when you choose to purchase a Prada bag or a Gucci bag. Among these is the great quality of the material. But if your budget is limited, a replica Prada handbag is just as great as the designer bag. What is more, you can get two to three replica Hermes handbags with the hundreds of dollars that you have spent for a real Hermes handbag. Don’t forget to clothe your laptop in style! There are many source online for cute laptop bags.

Even babies are in on the designer revolution. Have you seen the latest in baby furniture, like the babi italia cribs?

Women love designer stuff and women love bargains. Put together these two things, and you get a smart women who knows the value of quality designer products.

Exercising On A Fitness Inversion Table

May 26th, 2009

Over the centuries, inverting the body has become a well known method in treating a number of medical conditions, but especially back pain. It is a process that has developed with a rather futuristic approach with the latest and top of the line models of back pain inversion table available in the market. This method also offers great advantage in improving blood circulation in the extremities of the body aside from alleviating back pain. The technique relies on natural gravity and it produces results by the ensuing application of weights on targeted sites of the body. The use of back pain inversion table does not require continuous and expensive medical supervision, though it is always best to ask for advice from a physician before engaging on the treatment.

The main reason behind the question of  do inversion tables really work ? Is to restore the proper alignment of the vertebrae of the spine with the discs of cartilage which separate them. Signs of pleasing relief from debilitating back pain have been experienced by a large number of people after trying inversion therapy. Problems of inter-vertebral discs are most likely to be resolved through inversion therapy. The process is also preferred to be combined with other treatments for back pain. Moreover, the therapy deviates from some of the side-effects and risks of mainstream medicine, though one has to observe a set of precautions to avoid complications of inversion therapy as well.

There are several simple precautions that could prevent accidents with the use of a back pain inversion table. First, it is important to have a trained and knowledgeable person present during therapy. You would not want to get stuck on an inverted position when the equipment breaks down, although malfunction is a rare case. There are other conditions as well, in which a person may not be capable of undergoing an inversion treatment alone, or may respond to a session in an unexpected manner and this could need help. In keeping things safe, the degree and duration of inversion should be increased only in small and gradual steps, with reversion to the normal upright position achieved in equally deliberate and responsive measures. In adjusting and fine-tuning the equipment, motorized calibration of inversion is far better than tables which use manual adjustments.

Restrictions on the Use of Back Pain Inversion Table

Through inversion in a benefits of inversion tables, blood is forced to rush to the head, and this exerts pressures on soft structures inside the body as well. Therefore, inversion therapy is not advisable to individuals with high blood pressure, cardiac function defects, or with glaucoma in the eyes. However, such routine precautions should not deter other sufferers from using inversion to relieve themselves from back pain. A primary care physician is the best judge of whether inversion therapy is safe and suitable for each individual case.

Resveratrol - The New Health Craze?

May 25th, 2009

If you were watching Oprah recently, then you may have heard of Resveratrol, which was featured on her show for a couple of minutes. Resveratrol is an interesting substance. It is most commonly found in red wine, and scientists feel that it helps against aging. The verdict on this is not yet in, since it’s really pretty new. Drinking red wine has in fact been shown to give certain health benefits if you do it in moderation.

To get the recommended resveratrol dosage, you’ll need to actually have a supplement. It would take around a dozen glasses of red wine a day to really get the benefits of resveratrol (and that’s not recommended for obvious reasons). Fortunately, however, there are at least a couple of products out there that are focused on giving a concentrated resveratrol supplement that will help you out.

And even though the main benefit is anti-aging, it seems there are a number of other side-effects. Other resveratrol benefits include things like weight loss (this is still debateable), possible reduced risk of cancer, protection against sun damages, increased metabolic rate and more energy. Research is still being conducted on the power of resveratrol, but it’s already clear that it is potentially very powerful.

If you’re thinking about getting this stuff, then you may want to consider sirtris resveratrol. Sirtris is a very large health company so at least you know it should work. However, you should ALWAYS consult a doctor before trying any of this stuff, and always consult a doctor before taking medical advice online.

The Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet

May 24th, 2009

If you’re looking for a diet that will truly help you lose weight, there are many out there to choose from. If you don’t know much about the diets available you may make a choice that is totally wrong for your body. This is why it is important to learn as much as you can about a diet before you decide to try it. So, if Carbohydrate Addicts diet is one that you are considering, you’ll want to learn a bit more. Here is some helpful information on this diet that will help you decide whether or not it is the diet for you.

Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet Overview

The Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet is a diet that was developed by Richard Heller, MD along with his wife, Rachael Meller, MD. It was first brought to light in the early 90’s and the basic theory behind it is that many people who are dealing with weight problems are addicted to carbs. Many times this can lead to insulin levels that are very high, which can make them crave even more carbs throughout the day. This diet works to help people get away from their addiction to carbs while not totally taking them out of the diet.

People it Works Best For

Carbohydrate Addicts dieting plan, or CAD, is a great diet for those who have not found the Atkins Diet to be successful for them. If people feel that Atkins deprived them, they may find that this diet is more effective for them, since they have the ability to eat whatever they want once each day. The reward meal is definitely one of the enticing factors, which makes it a great choice for people who really have certain foods that they enjoy eating each day. The main group that this diet was developed for though, is for people who have an imbalance in the body that is known as carbohydrate addiction.

Pros and Cons

When you take a look at the Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet, you will find that there are pros and cons to the diet. You need to take a close look at them to figure out whether or not the pros outweigh the cons or if the opposite is true. Here are a few of the pros and cons of this diet to consider.

- Pro #1 - Easier than Atkins - One of the pros is that this diet is a much easier one to follow than the Atkins diet. It is not quite as extreme, which makes it easier for people to follow, which usually leads to more success.

- Pro #2 - Gets Rid of Carb Cravings - Another pro of the Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet is that it helps people to get rid of their carb cravings. This is done by the careful portions and choice of foods that are eaten each day.

- Pro #3 - Keeps Blood Sugar on a Constant Level - Since you are not eating so many carbs all the time, this diet helps you to keep your blood sugar levels on a more constant level, instead of constantly having a sugar level that goes up and down throughout the day.

- Con #1 - You May Miss Nutrients - When it comes to cons, one of the big ones is that you may miss out on some of the most important nutrients that your body really needs. Often it is hard to get the fiber and calcium that your body needs when you are on this diet.

- Con #2 - Bad for Those with High Cholesterol - Many times doctors will actually advise against this diet for people who have high cholesterol. The foods that are eaten in this diet are high in fats that are saturated, which can elevate cholesterol, so this is another con of this diet.

- Con #3 - Many People Experience Plateaus in Weight Loss - After a certain time, while people usually lose weight right away during the diet, many people end up hitting a plateau eventually and then they stop losing weight. This can also be one of the big cons to consider before you try this diet.

Foods You Can and Can’t Eat

While you are on the diet, there are foods that you can and cannot eat. During the first couple weeks of the program, two of your daily meals must be their special meals that have about 3-4 ounces of meat, 2 ounces of some type of cheese, and about two cups of salad or some type of veggies. Then, for your third meal of the day you are allowed to eat whatever you want and as much as you want, and this is called the Reward Meal. The only restriction on the Reward Meal is that you have to eat everything for the meal within one hours’ time.

Once the first two weeks are up, there are a few different plans that you can choose, depending on the weight you plan on losing after this. Some have plans that allow special snacks during the day, and the snacks are limited as well. Also, the diet requires that you drink a lot of water each day as well, which is very important.

What the Medical Community Says

When it comes to the medical community and their opinions, for the most part it is not really a favorite with Carbohydrate Addicts. While obese people often show insulin resistance and high levels of insulin, usually doctors feel that obesity actually causes this. Also, most people in the medical field feel that it can be a bad diet choice because you miss out on some of the best nutrition that your body really does need if you are to lead a healthy life.

Don’t Let The Flu Get To You

May 23rd, 2009

DISCLAIMER: This post is based on information widely available publicly online and medical journals that deal with losing fat and/or colons and/or skincare. Nothing herein is intended to be or should be interpreted to be any sort of doctor’s advice. For medical advice the reader should consult with his or her doctor or other medical specialist.

This year is a crazy one with the onset of the new Swine Flu.  Although no deaths have been reported as of the middle of May of 2009 in the US, there have been several deaths in Mexico so it is still quite a scary thought.  Luckily, Swine Flu is more of a public craze than an actual problem.  Approximately 36,000 Americans die each year from Flu-like causes, so this isn’t the end of the world.  For those looking for a way to not get the flu though, they should check out immune boost review.

Losing fat is always a huge difficulty for both men and women, but everyone wants it, especially during the summer months when we could be wearing bathing suits and bikinis.  A great way to get rid of fat is to take a pill called Green Tea Purity which can certainly help with the weight loss process.

Also, while at the beach, we sure don’t want to look bad by having a lot of cellulite.  There are many creams and pills and lotions out there to try to combat cellulite but many of them are quite unsuccessful for the majority of people trying them.  One cream that actually seems to work well is called bodysolution.  Good luck.

Why you should order a Thyroid test online

May 23rd, 2009

Disclaimer: people need to consult a Dr. prior to taking medical advice.

Why you should order a Thyroid test.

A Thyroid test includes T3, T4, and TSH in the body. T3 and T4 circulate in the blood bound and linked to molecules of protein. The free T4 and free T3 defines the bodys true thyroid levels.. Thyroid levels of hormones that are free react with cell receptors.

Below normal are thyroid levels in hypothyroidism. A lot of TSH is excreted by the pituitary thus increasing the TSH thyroid levels. A Thyroid test is analyzed when the hypothalamus orders the pituitary to stop releasing TSH when in hyperthyroidism and TSH levels are low. Patients with abnormal thyroid levels or thyroid function may have normal TSH levels in beginning stages of dysfunctional thyroid. Due to this, an FT3 and FT4 thyroid level test needs to be performed.

T4 is primarily produced in the gland of the thyroid with only small amounts of T3. The liver produces the majority of T3 available in the body because of the of T4 to T3 conversion.
